The Member of Parliament for Central Honiara, John Moffat Fugui is calling on the Government to start thinking about building a second city for Solomon Islands in Malaita.
The country’s only city is Honiara which is the home of central administration, commerce and diplomacy.
“Therefore if the government has any plans to build the country’s second city, build it in Malaita, because if it addresses 50-percent of Malaita problems, then it will mean addressing 70 to 90-percent of Solomon Islands problems.”
Mr Fugui said the government should also consider building an international airport in Malaita because it has already built two international airports at Munda in the Western Province and Henderson International Airport in Guadalcanal Province.
