The new Premier of Guadalcanal Province, Bartholomew Vavanga who is now commanding a new group says cooperation is evident from the start.
Mr Vavanga said his recent election has demonstrated cooperation and oneness by members of the new provincial assembly.
He collected an overwhelming 21 votes including the vote of his only rival, retired Police Inspector, Peter Araunisaka.
Mr Vavanga, 59 years old said it has been a history in the making especially for Guadalcanal Province where leadership squabbling over the post of Premier was obvious during the past four years.
He said political instability and leadership squabbling in the past four years had brought his province to its knees.
But new Premier Vavanga said now it is time to stand united and make a new start for the province and “our people”.
He said overwhelming support for his leadership shows all provincial members want to move together in advancing the province with its development aspirations.
“My new executive will work together with the new Democratic Coalition for Change Government to implement the province’s outstanding projects.”
He added that the proposed provincial headquarters at Doma on North-West Guadalcanal, the Tina Hydro Project on Central Guadalcanal and the re-opening of the Gold Mine also on Central Guadalcanal are some of the focuses.
