Solomon Islands Government will not have a budget until March when the 10th Parliament will approve the 2015 Budget.
What this means is the government will meet its expenses from approved funds under a Parliamentary resolution in Section 103 (1) of the Constitution.
Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare had to ask Parliament’s approval to spend state funds under the resolution because his government was not able to put together the 2015 national budget before the financial year ended on December 31, sighting the major reason was the shortage of time.
But he added the 2015 Financial Year will be complex to manage as the country’s economic outlook remains fragile and is influenced by the suspension of mining operations at Gold Ridge on Central Guadalcanal and the ongoing reconstruction following the April 2014 floods.
