NURSES working at Talakali clinic in Langalanga lagoon Malaita province are urged to perform their duties during official hours.
This call was made after several deaths occurred at the clinic while nurses were not present.
A man who asked not to be named said it was a normal practice that patients will have to wait hours before the nurse turned up.
“Desperately sick patients do not have to wait hours for a nurse. It is a critical job that nurses must be on time at their work places to avoid avoidable deaths,” the concerned man said.
He said many sick patients were at risk because of this attitude towards work at Talakali clinic.
The man said members of the communities in the area were asking the Malaita’s Ministry of Health to post new nurses to the clinic to ensure efficiency.
“This must not continue to happen, and the better option is to post new nurses to man the clinic.”
