A TEAM from the Police Response Team Unit of the Royal Solomon Islands Police, has been deployed to Kolombangara, Western Province to investigate and settle a logging dispute.
Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast said a patrol boat carrying the team was sent.
“We call on all parties involve to come together and resolve the dispute in a peaceful manner rather than involving themselves in violence,” Mr Prendergast said.
He said the team from Honiara including Western police provincial commander and his team are on the ground working on resolving the issue with parties involve.
“We will be taking strong action against those who involved in any criminal activities during the dispute.”
Gizo police have confirmed the incident but declined to verify reports that a person has died in relation to the dispute.
