DEPUTY Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Douglas Ete on Friday launched the Election Survey Report in Parliament.
In his remarks, Mr Ete said the report is an important document for policy makers to read.
“This government supports the intention of women participating in political leadership” Mr Ete said.
He added he will present the report to Caucus before cabinet deliberates on it.
He assured the nation that the Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) government will be working together with women in the country to addressing their issues of concern.
The report contains information on voter behaviour towards women candidates before and after the 2014 Solomon Islands National General Election.
Young women and men were engaged by the Young Women Parliamentary Group (YWPG) at all stages in design, execution, analysis, and reporting.
The survey provided opportunities for an improvement in YWPG capacity to develop and use policy research in their overall mission.
Karlyn Roughan compiled the report with the YWPG members and individuals, UNDP office in Honiara, and senior officers of the National Parliament.
The surveyors were trained by researchers from the Islands Knowledge Institution (IKI), Kellington Simeon and Paul Roughan.
Present at the launching were Speaker of National Parliament Alijon Jasper Nasiu, his Deputy Moffat Fugui, senior officers of the National Parliament and reps from non-government organisations.
