Strong wind and heavy rain reportedly hit east Kwara’ae, Malaita, since Friday.
George Ramo from the region said the bad weather has confined people to their homes.
He said their fear was the Kwaibaita river, which normally burst its banks during heavy rain.
“This has caused people to go to their gardens, get what they can get and go home.
“No damage yet caused but strong wind and heavy rain continues,” he said.
The Weather Office yesterday said tropical cyclone OLA with 993hectopascals was located 17.5S 161.6E, approximately 340nautical miles South-Southeast of Rennell/Bellona Islands.
