HONIARA High School (HHS) pledges to impose strong disciplinary measures this year to ensure orderly and smooth running of the school.
John Iromea, the new deputy principal, outlined this to the Solomon Star.
He said this year and onward the school administration will step up its disciplinary measures to ensure school rules are respected and followed.
“I believe this is going to be a very challenging year for teachers, students, parents and stakeholders as was in the past,” he said.
“However, despite the past challenges, failures and weaknesses the school has gone through, we can now put our heads together this year and aim higher.
“Academic excellence is our priority for this year and onward.
“Therefore, I would like to send a strong message to the students, parents and staff that disciplinary measures will be rock-hard this year.
“Things like betel-nut chewing, consumption of alcohol, untidy appearance (fancy haircuts etc….), mobile phones and other electrical appliances will not be allowed on the school premises,” he said.
Mr Iromea added if anything to do with family issues concerning children, parents are urged to contact the school administration for information.
“We do not want the students to be disturbed.
“Any student found misbehaving or breaching the school policies will be dealt with seriously in an appropriate manner,” he said.
He urged the students that while they are given the opportunity to study at the school, they must make use of that privilege.
Mr Iromea stated that opportunities only come once.
“Therefore, I call upon all parents, government, the education authority (HCC), stakeholders, teachers and students to work together so that we can set another step forward in our academic achievement.
