Ministry of Infrastructure and Development (MID) says all the roads that will be upgraded in Honiara won’t be tarsealed.
MID Director Harry Rini clarified this following speculation that all upgraded roads in Honiara will be tarsealed.
However Mr Rini that all upgraded roads in Honiara will not be tar-sealed.
“A good numbers of communities in Honiara will see their roads being upgraded this year but not tarsealed. I cannot confirm the number at this stage.”
The Director said, the Safeguard team within the Ministry is currently holding consultation talks with communities to brief them about the proposed project.
This week they are started off at Wind Valley community in West Honiara and will continue moving out to some communities in Honiara.
Mr Rini also warned people building on the land allocated for the road works to move out.
He also encouraged community members to work with the contractors.
