Member of Parliament (MP) for West Guadalcanal and former Minister of Mines and Energy, Moses Garu is the latest MP to be charged for misconduct in office.
According to the national broadcaster, SIBC, the Leadership Code Commission (LCC) formally charged him last Thursday.
Chair of the Leadership Code Commission (LCC) Francis Luza said the charge relates to an incident in December 2012 when the Member of Parliament (MP) facilitated the appointment of his own wife to be the Constituency Development Officer for West Guadalcanal.
Luza said Garu has 60 days to respond to the charge.
In another development, the LCC has refused to defer its proceedings against Member of Parliament for Small Malaita, Rick Hou, and former Finance Permanent Secretary Shadrach Fanega.
Hou and Fanega are both facing charges of official misconduct.
Their lawyer has written to the Commission to defer proceedings against them till a civil case involving them at the High Court is completed.
But the chairman of the Leadership Code Commission is refusing to defer the case.
Luza says the Commission will continue its case against the duo when they respond to the claims.
The charges against Hou and Fanega relate to the ownership of MV Small Mala and the registration of Small Malaita Shipping Company as their own.
