TWO female Japanese volunteers have arrived to serve in the country.
They came under Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) volunteer programme.
Mizobuchi Yuriko from Fukuoka city and Kimura Tomomi from Ibaraki will serve here for two years.
Ms Yuriko will work with the Ministry of Health and Medical Service (MHMS)as a Nutritionist, while Ms Tomomi will work as a Speech Therapy at the National Referral Hospital (NRH).
The duo arrived in Honiara on 28 March and had gone through a pijin class.
They will assume their official duties in two weeks’ time.
The pair told their Solomon Star they will do their best to serve the country.
“We are happy to be here and will put our best into the work we are here to do,” Mr Yuriko said.
“People here are kind and friendly, which so we are looking forward to learning more about your country,” she added.
