A Chief from Isabel has called on the three Members of Parliament from the province to seriously consider forming a working committee to assist in the implementation of infrastructure development programme of Isabel.
Bugotu chief Hugh Bogese said this can be done in consultation with the Isabel provincial government under the leadership of Premier James Habu.
Bogese made the call in light of the recent Isabel national and provincial leaders’ summit in Honiara, in which they reaffirmed their commitment to work closely together for the common good of the people of the province.
He said it is good to know that Isabel leaders both at the national and the provincial levels have made commitments to work closely to advance the development aspirations of the province.
He added that while the premier has highlighted infrastructure development in the province as one of his government’s top priority sectors, forming a working committee would help in any forward negotiations and planning before actual work on any project is undertaken.
He said that such a committee should comprise of civil engineers, provincial government reps, chiefs, community reps and other stakeholders within the province.
