THE Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) office in Honiara will officially handover a new permanent office located at the Ranadi dumpsite to Honiara City Council (HCC) this month.
JICA in the partnership with HCC funds the new Ranadi dumpsite office.
The office has office space and rooms for HCC staff who will be looking after the Ranadi dump site. The staff will work and assist business people and commercial household who normally discharge their garbage at the dumpsite.
HCC Ranadi dumpsite Land Field Supervisor Joe Kelesi told the Solomon Star during a visit there last week, the office complex will be handed to HCC by JICA towards the end of this month.
“This office will administer all the activities of this Ranadi dumpsite,”Mr Kelesi said.
He explained that HCC officers currently looking after the Ranadi dumpsite did not have a proper office and rest room to carry out their duty.
“Therefore through this partnership JICA has provided funds to build this new office,” Mr Kelesi said.
He thanked the Japanese Government through JICA in providing funds for the dumpsite office project.
Another project that is currently underway is the erection of fencing around the dumpsite which should be completed end of this month before the officially opening of the office complex.
