SOLOMON Islands Electricity Authority (SIEA) top officials have met this week to discuss the proposed Fiu River hydro project.
Pradip Verma, Chief Executive Officer of SIEA, met the Task Force of the Customary Landowners on Tuesday.
The meeting was facilitated by the Provincial Government in Auki and Honourable Peter Ramohia (Premier), Honourable AlickMaeaba (Deputy Premier), Patrick Taloboe (Permanent Secretary) and David Dauta (Energy Officer) Premier, were also present.
Mr Pradip highlighted the importance of the project and how it can bring long-term benefit to the people of Malaita.
“It is not just our generation but the next two generations to come who will reap the benefits. The project will provide an impetus to the economic development in Malaita and will be the precursor for more hydro generation projects in Malaita, ”said Pradip.
