The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has clarified doubts and confusions surrounding the contracts of Permanent Secretaries.
This was done when they appeared before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) hearing recently.
A spokesman said currently nine PS positions were vacant since 10th December 2014.
“These posts were extended to 1st of April, 2015 to give time for PS to attend to their Ministers for the parliament preparation for the next financial year,” the spokesman said.
He said that these extensions came from the consent of the Public Service Commission (PSC) and the prime minister, which they later extend it to 30th of April.
“These extensions allow time for the PSC to continue with their interview process for new candidates for these positions and this also includes the PS post for the PMO,” he added.
He further stated that by the time the 2015 Bill is passed in the parliament new PSs should fill in their respective offices.
