CHAIRMAN of the Honiara City Council (HCC) Law Enforcement Charles Aiwosuga has issued a stern warning to the public in regards to the illegal fundraising activities around the city.
Mr Aiwosuga said it has been observed that there has been an increase of such activities from groups, organisation or individuals.
He said such organised fundraising which includes card games and selling of beers is illegal unless it is approved by the Council.
“This kind of fundraising activity has become a common trend during week days or weekends and it is an offence if there is no approval from the chairman of the Honiara Liquor License Board,” he said.
“I appeal to those who are interested to organise such activities to obtain an occasional license from the Honiara liquor License board secretary and pay a fee of $581.00,” he added.
The chairman said the HCC Law Enforcement Officers along with the Police liquor unit will be monitoring such activities around the city.
“Anyone found committing such activities without the license approval will be prosecuted.”
In related news, Mr Aiwosuga also made an appeal to the Ministry of Health and Medical Services and the Ministry of Police to assist with the increasing number of mental disorderly people on the streets.
He said these people are posing are big threat to the innocent people on the streets with their unpredictable behaviours.
Mr Aiwosuga requested the responsible Ministries with the assistance of the Council to help deal with the issue to avoid further casualties.
