Guadalcanal Premier, Bartholomew Vavanga has welcomed the taking of the Gold Ridge Mining Limited by the landowners associated company, Gold Ridge Comminity Investment Limited (GCIL).
He said, while he welcomed the bold step taken by the landowners, the provincial government is yet to properly look into what avenue it can play in there.
Vavanga said, it is his executive’s wish that whatever redevelopment planned for the mining will be a role model development for the province.
“My executive is yet to make special consideration the deal signed so far but for now we do welcome the step taken.”
He said, whatever arises from the past regarding Gold Ridge, his executive has nothing to do with it and now that it’s in the hands of resource owners’ themselves is an interesting development.
“Probably this will not be a role model for the province itself but for the country as whole as it is the first of its kind in the mining sector,” he said.
Vavanga said the province will see into how best it can be part of this development and what role it will play.
“Until the executive will meet and see into the agreement and if the landowners association company Gold Ridge Comminity Investment Limited (GCIL) agreed for the province to help, we will look into it,” reiterated Premier Vavanga.
