PRIME MINISTER (PM) Manasseh Sogavare will officially launch the newly completed Solomon Islands National Tourism Development Strategy tomorrow at the national museum compound.
Dubbed as the “Strategy for Growth,” it reflects the importance of sustainable tourism in growing the economy of Solomon Islands and in achieving the broader goals of the DCC Government.
A statement from Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MCT) yesterday said, the strategy is design to identify and address some of the sector related impediments and to facilitate a faster rate of economic growth and increased benefit from Tourism.
“The focus of the strategy is the short to medium term covering the next five year period to ensure practical and systematic measures are taken to build the tourism sector.
“The strategy outlines a sequenced and prioritised program of development by the government and industry partners,” the statement said.
Key stakeholders including tourism operators, government officials and donor partners have been invited to witness the launching.
The launching is expected to be flavoured with traditional ceremonies depicting the rich and diverse culture of Solomon Islands which is also one of the main tourist attractions.
