A LOCAL businessman says claims an assault charge he was charged for was related to last year’s national general elections was untrue.
Jennings Movobule told the Solomon Star the incident was personal and unrelated to the elections.
“I wish to clarify the report in the Solomon Star yesterday that the assault incident is not related to the election but a personal matter between me and the victim,” Mr Movobule said.
“The victim has been a threat to my business and property for the past years.
“He was just a kid that was brought up by me during his stay in Honiara,” he added.
Mr Movobule also said that the report was a ploy manufactured by his rivals to spoil his reputation ahead of his election petition case hearing in the High Court.
“I wish to assure the other party that I have nothing to lose,” Mr Movobule said.
