The Taiwanese national accused of intimidating two Malaysian brothers over the issue of Tubi logs will know his fate on May 25.
This was after the prosecution and the defence counsel orally presented their closing submissions on Wednesday in the Magistrates’ Court.
The judgment was supposed to be handed down by Principal Magistrate Fatima Taeburi on Wednesday after the trial ended last week.
Prosecution and the defence counsels asked to file their written submissions a day before the judgment day.
However, since prosecution and the defence counsel apart from filing in their written submissions have also presented oral submissions on that day, the judgment day was further adjourned.
Mai Yung Fu, 65, has been tried in a one-day hearing for two counts of intimidation & molestation which saw three prosecution witnesses giving evidence.
He however chose to remain silent.
The charges were in relation to the allegation on July 21, last year at the office of one of the complainants in Honiara.
Police alleged Fu went to the office of the second complainant Steve Wong and warned him to stop anyone dealing with the harvesting, buying and or exporting of Tubi log.
He allegedly told Steve that if anyone continues dealing with Tubi logs, their lives will be at risk.
Fu then allegedly told Steve to tell his brother Kenny Wong, the first complainant in this case, not to involve in any dealings with Tubi logs.
Police further alleged that Fu clearly stated that if Kenny continued to deal with Tubi, he will use Mafia gangs in Taiwan to hunt and kill him and his entire family.
During that conversation, that allegedly took place at Steve’s office, Fu was said to have spoken in an angry raised tone and was allegedly aggressive.
Fu is represented by Light Lawyers while Police Prosecutor Rodney Wheatney represents the State.
