The court on Tuesday remanded a man accused of stealing cash and valuable properties totalling up to $85,000 from a home at Burns Creek area, East Honiara.
Julian Robin Sira, 29 has been remanded in custody for one count of burglary.
This followed a remand application made by Police Prosecutor Alice Foanaota before Magistrate Augustine Aulanga.
Sira was charged in relation to an allegation on the early hours of 15 May 2015 at Deng’s home near the Custom Garden at Burns Creek.
It was alleged that Mr Deng from China who owns a shop at Burns Creek area at that time, was awaken strange loud banging noise at his front door.
He got up went and went to see where the noise was coming from when the door was pushed open.
Police alleged that he tried to run to get a table to put it behind the door but he was too late.
It was further alleged that four armed men including the accused entered the house and confronted Deng.
They allegedly confronted him with a knife pointed at his neck to give them money, to which Deng was afraid for his life that he led them into his own bedroom and showed them a bag containing money.
The accused and his co-accused allegedly took the bag of money containing $40,000, three mobiles, two sim cards and two suitcases containing clothes.
Before leaving the house with the stolen properties, one of the accused allegedly hit the alleged victim on his forehead.
The victim was rushed to the Hospital after the attack and was said to have received eight stitches to his forehead.
Sira is due in the Honiara Magistrates’ Court on June 9.
