Malaita Provincial Government has promised the Ministry for Culture and Tourism (MCT) that it would provide a land to build staff houses tourism officers who will be based in Auki, Malaita Province.
Deputy Premier for Malaita Provincial Government Premier Alick Maeaba revealed this last week in response to a request by the Minister for Culture and Tourism Bartholomew Parapolo.
Mr Parapolo has asked Malaita Provincial Government (MPG) to provide a land to build houses for tourism officers who will be posted in Auki to look after the new provincial tourism office.
Mr Maeaba told the visiting delegation that his government will certainly provide a land for the staff house.
“So far we have a land and currently work is underway to build staff houses therefore your request for staff housing is granted,” Mr Maeba said.
He said, the province is happy to get support from the national government for the setting up of a new tourism office in Auki.
Mr Parapolo in response thanked Malaita provincial government for the assurance.
“As the Minister responsible for tourism, I would like to thank the Malaita provincial government for the assurance.”
