The High Court will today hear the case of the recent Parliament Entitlement Commission (PEC) awards of tax free pay for 50 MPs and pension entitlement for newly elected MPs.
This was scheduled recently in the High Court’s time table attendance into civil cases hearing for this year.
A day that the public of Solomon Islands cannot wait for, as most of the people are still angry over this PEC awards, are promising to turn up in court for this hearing, one interviewee told the paper.
Plenty of these people in the public quickly informed their friends and others through social media and phone calls, updating each other about today’s first hearing into the case.
Expression from many people on Facebook (FB) directly spell out their hearts that they do not accept any court ruling that will go in favour of this PEC award for MPs.
Two members of the popular online group known as the Forum Solomon Islands International (FSII) told the media that they are looking forward for the repetition of the court ruling in the MPs spouse’s $50,000.00 entitlement each.
They said, that this case is for the people of Solomon Islands to be treated fairly by our elected leaders.
“We owe credits to MP for West Makira Derrick Manuari and his colleague for front lining the matter in court, on behalf of the people of Solomon Islands, excluding those 49 MPs,” they said.
