ABOUT 50 law enforcement officers from Honiara City Council (HCC) will take their oath of allegiance next week.
The ceremony will be the first ever for the division and would take place at the Honiara City Council chamber on Monday, 10am.
Robert Madeo, head of law enforcement division within the Honiara City Council (HCC) confirmed this on Wednesday.
Mr Madeo said, the affirmation of oath will be conducted by head of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIP).
“This is one of the achievements for the law enforcement division this year to encourage our officers to be well discipline in their duty in the city.
“These officers are the ones currently working with the law enforcement unit,” Mr Madeo said.
He explained taking of oath is another step forward for his officers to work effectively as city law enforcement officers.
“We have the seven (7) meter by-law enforced by HCC early this year and this is one area our officers will deal with seriously this year and that’s why they ned to get their oath.”
He said, he wants his officers to be well discipline and honest in their duty.
“Many times our officers have been criticised by the public and we believe by taking their affirmation of oath should help these officers to behave themselves and be a good ambassador for HCC,’’Mr Madeo said.
He thanked the current HCC executive for giving a thumps up to the new program.
