The court will next week rule whether or not a juvenile accused of raping a 4-year-old girl will be committed to stand trial in the High Court.
This was after a short form preliminary inquiry conducted on the case of the 16 year-old juvenile yesterday, in the Honiara Magistrates’ Court.
Public Prosecutor Margaret Suifa’asia yesterday tendered the preliminary inquiry documents to the court.
Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Kouhota will look through the documents before delivering his ruling on July 27, which is on Monday next week.
The juvenile from Guadalcanal is facing one count of rape in relation to the allegation on 5 May 2015, near a school at East Guadalcanal.
The alleged incident occurred during the school lunch break.
The alleged victim whom is a kindergarten student of that school and other kids were lured by the accused in the nearby bushes with ripe bananas.
It was alleged that when the alleged victim was eating the banana, the accused lifted her up and went into the bushes.
Prosecution alleged that some kids who were with the accused that lifted the alleged victim ran off to report the matter to the school staff and parents at the school.
Some of the school parents who were there then allegedly went to look for the alleged victim.
While in the bushes, it was alleged they saw the accused walking with the alleged victim from the bush towards the school area.
The alleged victim then reported what the accused did to her to her aunty and the matter was reported to the police.
