ONE of the men who robbed more than $130,000 from another man at the King George Bus stop in East Honiara will be sentenced on August 7.
Adam Talu pleaded guilty to one count of robbery in relation to the incident on 17 September, 2014.
His co-accused, a taxi driver, Francis Gugumae who had also entered a guilty plea to the charge of receiving will be sentenced as well.
This was for receiving $1,000 of the robbed money as taxi fare from the accused.
The sentencing submissions were filed to the court on Wednesday.
Both accused had earlier denied the charges but entered guilty pleas on the day of the trial.
The incident occurred on 17 September 2014, at the King George bus stop when the victim who is a security officer for a timber company at Ranadi was waiting to board a bus to town to deposit the money for his boss.
While waiting for the bus, three men including Talu approached him and grabbed the bag off him.
The bag contained $100,000 cash and more than $38,000 worth of Bank of South Pacific Bank (BSP) and Westpac Cheques.
The men ran across the road, stopped a taxi driven by Gugumae and took off.
Police said the victim tried to stop the taxi but it sped off with the men.
He then took another taxi back to where he worked and reported the matter to his boss who later reported the matter to police.
The money and the cheques have not been recovered and two of Talu’s co-accused are still at large.
