GUADALCANAL Province have celebrated their provincial second appointed day in each of their 21 wards this week.
Premier for Guadalcanal Province, Bartholomew Vavanga announced this during the celebration held at Nguvia Catholic station, North Central Guadalcanal on Wednesday.
Guadalcanal second appointed day is normally held on 31st August. But this year executive have decided to organise celebration down to each 21 wards within the constituency.
And this week, each 21 wards within Guadalcanal province have celebrated the provincial second appointed day.
Mr Vavanga told people who witnessed the occasion on Wednesday that his Guadalcanal Provincial Government Executive had decided to take the celebration down to each 21 wards within the province.
“Our executive decided to organise this year anniversary around all 21 wards in the province. This government see it as a foundation as the government of the people “
“It’s more fitting for celebration to be brought down to the people at rural or village level so that we can share our successes and our challenges together,” Mr Vavanga said.
Mr Vavanga said his gov’t now aims to reach out to the rural communities wherever possible.
“We would like our presence to be seen and felt at this rural level and not in higher level.
“At the moment each of our MPAs are in their respective wards doing celebration for this second appointed day celebration to ensure our rural people can be part of our celebration and felt that gov’t have reached them. This celebration will continue in the coming years,” Mr Vavanga said.
He highlighted in his speech that his government has supported the policies of the current Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) Government.
“This new government that I lead will make it a priority to work in partnership with DCCG. It will mainstream its development focus aligned with the two reforms of the DCC policy framework. Under DCC gov’t Guadalcanal province had been allocated 12 national projects.
“This province’s vision is to maintain and nurture a peaceful, united, economically prosperous Guadalcanal Province. Our mission is to carry out the economic, political, social and administration functions of province through good governance, encourage collaboration and the delivery of programs to development,” Mr Vavanga said.
He however urged everyone within Guadalcanal province to support and work closely with the Guadalcanal provincial government.
