The two men from Ranoggah, Western province who were reportedly missing since last Tuesday after going out on fishing trip are still at large.
Reports reaching the paper late on Tuesday said, the two men are still missing as opposed to what had been reported on Monday.
Earlier reports said, the men have been found in Bougainville in Papua New Guinea (PNG).
However, it was revealed to the paper last night that the report was incorrect.
A spokesperson for the relatives and family members last night said, family members and relatives have received wrong information from someone.
“After further investigation, it was revealed the two might still be missing.”
Family members are now investigating the source of information that provided false information to family members.
They are also now working with relevant authorities to see what further actions could be taken to try and help search the missing duo.
Gizo police early this week was unable to confirm whether the men are being found or not because there was no formal confirmed report that reached them.
