The Malaita Local Court will be conducting a land settlement sitting for land cases in Malaita in the Provincial capital Auki starting on Monday 10th August 2015.
According to information received from the Malaita Local Court in Auki, land settlement for a total of 51 lands cases will be heard.
The purpose for the sitting is for the court to check the current status and position of the parties on the 51 land cases.
Speaking to this paper from Auki a local court officer Hilary Fioru said parties should not worry themselves about bringing in all their witnesses and preparing their evidence as usually happen in full land hearings.
“This is not a full hearing where you present your facts and evidences in custom line origins, migrations, boundary, taboo sites, etc,” he said.
Instead the land settlement is purposely to check the current status and position of the parties with regards to the disputed land cases.
On Monday 10th of August the list of lands cases what will be heard are as follows; FAGWA/TAO, KULEKWAI and HAUSAHOE.
On the 11th of August the following land cases will be heard; MALASATA PORTION Land, FERALAUNGIA and ANOTAFA LAND.
On the 12th of August the following land cases will be heard; TAKIBAKWA, TALAIFAU OLEOLE and ALASA’A GENEALOGY.
On the 13th of August the following land cases will be heard; KETEKETE, AEOA, FOLOBEAKWA, NGARIFOU, FOUBOLO, NGARIFOLA-LALA, AEBUTHA and KWAUKWAU.
On the 17th of August the following land cases will be heard; RAEA BILUKI MARU’U, ILIGU FANIMANU,ABURUKI FAIBARAKI, BITA’AMA, ADASAULA, FA’ASIFAU, LAGWAE,GWAUNATAFU, ABUOLI, FERA’ABAU, GWAUNAONGI, FAULAKENO, UFIBU TOLOABU, FASIFAU KAUKAUNA’AFA, NIMAUASI SUULI, FAUREBA-TO’ONAOA, ABUALAKWA LAND, BUSUNGAREREDE(SIUBONGI), TETE TETEFOU, BETIKAULA, OTE TABAHAO, BOEBOE TABU SITE, FAIBUSIA , FAIBUSIA (TOP PART), ABARAFI LANGI, OSI(re: case 24/2013) , MWANIOA, USU USU, ADASAULA, MANAOBA ISLAND, OSI (re also case 1/2002 above) and GOUNAKWAI (re: case 24/14).
On the 21st of August the following cases will be heard; KWARINAKI-NAKI and BURIANA’ASI.
The Malaita Local Court advise those involved on the above mention land cases to present before the Malaita Local court on the dates stated above.
According to Fioru, it is very important for the parties involved in the cases to attend the hearings because some of the land cases have been there for decades.
