Chung Wah School in Honiara on Monday received financial support from the Beijing government based in mainland China with a sum of SBD$310,000.00.
The donation was the part of an ongoing support from mainland China to redevelop the Chinese operated school in Honiara.
Speaking to this paper yesterday on behalf of the school, chairman of the Solomon Islands Chinese Association (SICA) Matthew Quan thanked the Chinese government for the kind donation.
“The donation will not only help in the redevelopment of the school but it will also help in running the school this year.”
He said, it is not the first time to receive such help from mainland China.
“The school also received donations from Beijing over the past two years.”
Mr Quan said, the money was channelled through the Chinese embassy in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea (PNG).
“The support will continue in the years to come for the redevelopment of the school.”
Currently the school is undergoing major reconstruction work which will see new classroom complex at the school soon.
