Special Secretary to Prime Minister (SSPM) Rence Sore says the move to de-register the popular face book group known as Forum Solomon Islands International (FSII) is just an option because of its political involvement.
Speaking to the Solomon Star on Monday Mr Sore said, FSII should remain neutral in their role, not political involvement.
“Their continuous involvement in political decisions from the Cabinet forces us to seek option to de-register them,” he said.
“We seek advice from the AG and they are aware of this,” he added.
He added, that discussion of national issues in social media exposed government to sarcastic behaviour from people who do not understand the system, thus raised more disrespectful statements from the public.
Recently Attorney General’s (AG) office clarified their position that they have no power to make decision over this issue, as the registrar of company is the right authority that has the jurisdiction to deal with the matter.
Since the person who was at the registrar of company left the job early this year its understood that the post remain vacant.
Therefore, the deputy registrar who is currently acting on the position has advised for those who intend to de-register FSII to write a letter before their authority could give any further advice.
Meanwhile, Secretary to Prime Minister Francis Waleanisia said, this is a political decision and he wonder why its associated with PMO.
“This does not come in the official channel of PMO, since its reasons are political is something out of my job and we can’t comment on this,” Waleanisia stated.
When contacted yesterday FSII executive member Benjamin Afuga said, they have not receive any official letter about de-registration, thus they will remain silent over the matter.
