BURNS creek community chairman, John Seti Iromea had categoryly denied involvement of his people in damaging water supply pipe lines in the area last week.
Mr Iromea however, pointed out that some water supply pipe lines may have been damaged by angry residents over disconnections carried out by officials from Solomon Water
Last week Solomon Water confirmed that its officers carried out water disconnections where some residents made illegal connections to their homes.
In other cases Solomon Water pointed out that some unpaid water bills from a number of residents have continued to accrue interests increasing further the principal amount of outstanding arrears thus necessitating its action.
But chief Iromea believes an outstanding water bill of some $30,000-00 in one of the residential homes at Burns Creek had ignited anger and over re-action by Solomon Water officials in resorting to carrying out mass disconnections to many homes.
He said, the bill was indebted by someone already deceased long time ago.
Chief Iromea said he was also aware that another outstanding water bill of $15,000-00 owed to Solomon Water was accrued by the Kastom Garden project i n the area.
Mr Iromea accused Solomon Water of unlawful and excessive use of its authority to victimise innocent residents of Burns Creek community who he said are legally entitled to receive water.
But a spokesman from Solomon Water strongly defended the organisation’s action as fair and within its rules of engagement.
In the meantime residents of Burns Creek community are believed to be still without water.
