MORE than fifty (50) students from Lunga Early Childhood Education (ECE) centre in East Honiara got a lifetime experience to board a passenger aircraft during an excursion on Wednesday.
The young students aged between three and five along with their teachers and school officials visited the Honiara International airport where they went through customs formalities before boarding the national carrier Solomon Airlines airbus at the tarmac.
The centre’s supervisor Gwenneth Anitarau said, the excursion trip was a look and learn trip for the young students.
She said, they have been learning about different forms of transports in their studies and lately they have been learning about planes and the excursion trip was an eye opener for the students to actually went inside an aircraft.
“The students were very happy to be part of excursion where they actually meet with the pilot and the cabin crews , not to mention that they actually touched the plane and sit in the passengers’ seats.”
She said, this has improved their learning as they come in contact with plane, a form of transport which they have familiar with but have never come into contact with before.
She thanked, Solomon Airlines management, cabin crews and staff at the Honiara international airport for the accepting their request to host their excursion trip.
