The Suava Bay incident has been resolved after an emotional reconciliation ceremony that took place between the parties involved at Malu’u Station North Malaita last week.
Speaking at the reconciliation ceremony, Minister for National Unity, Reconciliation and Peace Hon Sam Maneka jointly shared his heart-felt sympathy and condolence to the situation occurred at Suava Bay area.
He said, “the reconciliation ceremony today becomes possible through the divine intervention from our heavenly father.”
The Minister said, this reconciliation ceremony showed that both parties are committed to restore true peace, stability and pathway for social harmony in the community, province and country as whole.
“Your bold commitment to reconcile will one day in the future will allow our generations to recall this wisdom and bold approach when looking for ways to resolve conflicts or hard divisions.”
Mr Maneka acknowledged the tribal leaders and representatives of the reconciled parties in seeing this wisdom and taking the positive approach to bring an end to the conflicts or hard divisions between both parties.
“Lasting peace and stability can only be made possible when we fight to stand united and not divided and this reconciliation ceremony today demonstrates this message.
“Restoring wounds and pain from conflict’s or hard division of parties is a tough job and a challenging one but it can only be best achieved when we allow the rule of the spirit of reconciliation to prevail.”
Meanwhile, he said, words are not enough to describe such moment, however last week’s reconciliation ceremony marked another milestone for peace and stability in the country, province, communities, tribes and families.
“Also what we witness today is a wake up of that moment of truth, that environment of true peace and stability where we again can advance our social harmony and living to extend our social and economic purposes productively peaceful.”
The Minister on behalf of the National Government and Ministry of National Unity, Reconciliation and Peace wished the reconciled tribal parties God’s grace.
Attending the reconciliation ceremony were Member of Parliament for Lau Mbaelelea Augustine Auga, Member of Parliament for North Malaita Jimmy Lusibaea, Member of Parliament for Baegu Asifola David Tome, Malaita Provincial Government PremierPeter Ramohia, Deputy Premier Alick Maeaba,Malaita Provincial Secretary Patrick Taloboe, other government officials, tribal leaders, community chiefs, church reps, youths and other community officials.
