POLICE is currently putting full scale investigation on the killing of a fully-complete infant found at the Ranadi dump site last Friday.
A police officer from Naha station told the Solomon Star that they are currently investigating the case to make sure they arrest the suspect.
“It is a murder case and we will not take this lightly,” an officer from the criminal investigation department (CID) from Naha station said.
“What we are doing at moment is collecting information from the people living near the dump site who found the death infant on Friday last week.
“Two case of such is now in front for us to investigate, one was the latest found at Naha heights and that one from Ranadi dump site.”
The officer appeals to the people who saw the body to come out more helpful information that leads to the suspects.
However, the Solomon Islands national council of women in an interview yesterday said that authorities responsible must investigate and arrest those responsible for killing such innocent lives.
Casper Faásala from the women in leadership desk office, Solomon Islands national council of women said, such practice must be condemned.
“Such issue is on the rise in our country today and I am sure it’s a wakeup call for authorities to serious with addressing it at the moment,” Mr Faásala said.
“I want to remind those who responsible for doing such action to rethink their decisions.
“If you are killing the infant for your fear or no responsible from the father then you stop making them.”
Mr Faásala said, to see two cases less than a month in Honiara is serious and it needs something to be done in country now.
“I want to call on parents, churches and other responsibilities to find ways to address this,” Mr Faásala said.
“We must put out awareness to young women in the country to understand how to go about such issues.”
Other young girls spoken to at Gilbert Camp also shared their disagreement on the case and urged police to investigate and arrest the suspect.
“Such action was disrespectful and nonsense in our country as Christian country,” one young girl said.
“We need to get rid of such doings that will tarnish our reputation.”
