THE court has issued a second warrant of arrest for a man facing fraud charges after he failed to turn up in court yesterday.
John Jayson Raka Tau was first issued a warrant of arrest on 25 August 2015.
This was withdrawn and he was released with strict bail condition and to appear again in court yesterday.
Tau however, failed to appear in court, forcing prosecution to apply for another warrant of arrest.
Principal Magistrate Edwin Saramo issued the warrant of arrest and adjourned the matter to 20 October.
The accused is facing charges of forgery, uttering and false pretence.
Prosecution alleged that on 31 July 2014, the alleged victim who was an employee at the Ministry of Infrastructure, gave Tau $10,000.
This is for the payment of a piece of land which is the property of Levers Solomon Limited.
Tau allegedly claimed he had legal authority to sell the Levers land and also showed the alleged victim a Lever Solomon Limited land sale receipt.
Inside the receipt book are names of some people who already paid land from him.
The alleged victim was convinced and paid $10,000 in cash to the accused, but a week later Tau could not be reached on his mobile phone.
After getting confirmation from the caretaker of the Levers Solomon Limited that Tau did not work for that company, he reported the matter to police.
