Arabala community in Central Kwara’ae was full of excitement over the weekend after witnessing the officially opening of its upgraded wharf.
Trades Transformation Company (TTC) has been engaged to upgrade the wharf which had been constructed many years ago.
On Saturday the project was formally handed over to the community.
The project was funded by the Solomon Islands Government.
Speaking at the opening, Arabala village council representatives Elisha Boboro said, Arabala community appreciated and thanked the management of the TTC for undertaking the upgrading work on the wharf through its two supervisors and project Coordinator and his casual boys who were so gentle and behave excellently towards the community.
He also thanked the National Government for recognizing the importance of the wharf towards Arabala and all communities in Central Kwara’ae and Langa-Langa Lagoon Constituency.
He said, the project has also benefited the local residents who have been hired to be part of the project.
“The project had benefited the locals who have been hired, canteen owners and the market.”
He said, the future vision of the wharf is to extend the wharf further into the sea using steel posts.
“We hope to consult more with Malaita Provincial Government for its assistance.
“We hope that any future workon the wharf will be borne as a community undertaking towards its own fund,” Mr. Boboro said
