POLICE Commissioner Frank Prendergast has disclosed the policing priority areas for the remaining months of this year.
These include keeping a close eye on family-based violence and gender based violence.
These two, Mr Prendergast said, take place daily and has affected families in the country.
The commissioner also highlight that policing alcohol and anti social behaviour is one of the key areas that the police is targeting at the moment, leading up to the festive session as alcohol is the driving force behind most of the social behavioural problems in the country.
He added the investigation into the Mbike shooting is one of the most important cases that the police will continue to investigate, adding police will pursue the case until they are satisfied with the outcome.
“Police is also keeping an eye on the issue of resource dispute on Rennel Island which has been going on for some time now,” he said.
“While border security is paramount for the national security of the country, it is one of the priority areas that the police will keep monitoring given that there are some incidents taking place this year at the border between Solomon Islands and Bougainville.
“Not only that but the police are keen to maintain law and order in the country during the upcoming festive season to make sure that families enjoy the occasion in a peaceful manner that is free of crime,” he said.
