FORMER leader of the Independent group and the current Deputy Prime Minister in the DCC government has received praise for his move by the Malaita Provincial premier.
Joining hands with a number of citizens of the country to commend Manasseh Maelanga and his former independent members is Peter Ramohia.
“Thank you Hon Manasseh Maelanga (Hon Deputy Prime Minister of Solomon Islands) and the members of your Independent Group for your well respected decision to save DCCG.
“I believe this is the result of the prayers of our people of this country,” Mr Ramohia said.
“The Malaita Alliance for Reform and Transformation (MART) Government and people appreciated your move very much because this demonstrated to us that your Independent Group has the INTEREST of Malaita at heart.
“It is our prayer and desire,” the premier stated this in a statement this week.
It was understood that, during the political wrangling last week, six members of the Parliamentary Independent Group led by Mr Maelanga have joined the Democratic Coalition for Change Government (DCCG).
The move which was instigated by the current DPM to keep the government in power has received public praises.
It is also welcoming news for the people of Malaita, because the DCC government still have some plans in its policy statement to be delivered to the province.
