A MAN accused of breaking into the Police Commissioner’s office in August has now decided to engage a lawyer from the Public Solicitor’s Office (PSO).
Albert Tutua’s matter was adjourned from the last occasion for him to confirm to the court whether he will still engage Hubert Fugui or get another lawyer.
This was after Fugui stopped appearing in court previously as he was at that time reportedly awaiting confirmation from the High Court regarding his practitioner’s license.
Tutua yesterday told the court he sent a request to the PSO but no lawyer has visited him as of yet.
Public Solicitor’s lawyer Stanley Aupai, who appeared in court yesterday after he talked with Tutua, informed the court he will advise his office so that the matter can be allocated to a lawyer.
Chief Magistrate Shepherd Lapo moved the matter for 14 days and further remanded Tutua in custody.
Tutua is due in court again on November 27.
He is facing one count of office break-in, where he was accused of breaking into the Police Commissioner’s office at the Rove Police headquarters at about 3am on 3 August 2015.
Tutua allegedly entered the premises by cutting the eastern fence, broke into a window where he got into the building and stole an external hard drive, a boot, and 50 x $50 Telekom cards.
The beak in was discovered on 7am that same day when a Police Participating Force arrived at the headquarters.
