COMMUNITY chiefs of Burns Creek community in east Honiara have commended Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast and his team for working closely with their community during the festive season.
Speaking to the Solomon Star yesterday on behalf of the chiefs, elders, and church leaders of Burns Creek, Chief Peter Usi said that the partnership made between the police and chiefs of the community has paid off well.
“On behalf of the chiefs, elders, and church leaders of Burns creek, we would like to thank the Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and his officers for their good work of providing the high visibility operation during the Christmas and New Year’s celebrations.
“Our community has enjoyed a peaceful festive celebration and so far there were no criminal activities being recorded unlike the past years,” Chief Usi said.
He added that, the programs that the RSIPF has been engaging in with the chiefs of the area towards the end of last year has helped a lot in the low record of criminal activities in the area over the past weeks.
“I also wish to thank the chiefs, elders, and church leaders of Burns creek for working closely with the police.
“Their hard work and cooperation with the police and members of the community must be appreciated,” Mr Usi added.
Chief Usi also encourages the leaders of the country to continue to work closely with their communities in 2016 for the betterment of the Solomon Islands.
