PREPARATORY work for the Tina Hydro Project is progressing well according to landowners.
Landowners have been working closely with the project coordinators which resulted in one tribe already receiving their cooperative society certificate this week.
Roha tribe is the first of the five resource owner tribes to receive the certificate after successfully registering their society on the 21st of December 2015.
The role of the society is to hold a general meeting for its members and elect a new executive which was all successfully done on Tuesday this week.
The responsibility of the Roha cooperative society is to hold shares of the tribe and make sure the tribe receive its shares from the project and fairly distribute them to the people of Roha tribe.
Not only that but the society is also mandated to do further business investment for the tribe with the benefits it receive from the development.
The other four tribes that are also resource owners of the Tina Hydro Project are also required to follow the same process by registering their respective cooperative societies.
