Newly elected Councilor for Vuhokesa ward in Honiara Greg Malefo has given his affirmation of allegiance on Tuesday.
After been declared the winner, Malefo now has officially taken up the full responsibility to perform and participate as an elected Councilor in the Honiara City Council and his ward.
City Clerk Charles Kelly said this now completes the process and Malefo can now be officially be referred to as a Councilor under the Honiara City Act.
Kelly further said the Mayor will decide on the responsibility and appointment of Malefo in the executive or chairman of a standing Committee later.
After taking his oath, Councilor Malefo pledged his support to work closely with the Executive and Management for the betterment of Honiara City.
He added that the responsibilities and tasks ahead will not be easy but he will perform to the best of his abilities to achieve what is expected of him.
Councilor Malefo took his affirmation of allegiance before the Mayor, City Clerk and the Legal team.
