Malaita Ma’asina Forum (MMF) has defended its involvement in local politics.
The group’s secretary and legal adviser Charles Ashley said there’s no law stopping them from involving or commenting on political issues.
“Politics is everybody’s concern and nobody has the right to shut out others from involving in political matters,” Ashley said.
He was responding to public concerns about MMF’s purported involvement in politics.
There were concerns that MMF should confine its activities to representing the people of Malaita on issues affecting them and not to engage in national politics.
But Ashley said MMF will always involve and comment on issues – politics or not – affecting lives of ordinary Solomon Islanders.
