LOCAL and indigenous businesses are going to benefit from a move described as steps by SIPA CEO to empower local businesses.
On Tuesday, $100,000 was given to support the Indigenous Chamber of Commerce Trade and Industries for Solomon Islands (ICCTISI).
SIPA CEO Colin Yow said it is time to stop arguing and make tangible changes happen to help local Solomon Islanders.
He then handed over the support and pledged to support businesses that want to join with part payment of their fees.
The donation was made yesterday as the newly established ICCTISI was launched.
“SIPA is very happy to support indigenous people and SIPA would like to see indigenous people rise up and take their stance in business in the country.
“The reform that is currently taking place is for the good of the indigenous people of this country and we will stand and support the indigenous business houses and we want to see ICCTISI grow,” he added.
Apart from the 100k donation, he also offered to pay half of the registration of the local business companies who wish to register under the ICCTISI.
The registration per business is $100 per annum but since SIPA through Mr Yow steps in and offers to help local business owners with half of their registration, the local business houses now will only pay $50 for annual registration.
With the support SIPA offers Mr Yow said he would like to see all the local business people to register their business under ICCTISI.
Mr Yow thanked the ICCTISI executive for initiating the very important body that will take care of the local business affairs in the country.
“This is a significant move for the indigenous people. It is time you take ownership of your country. You have been pushed around and made to be spectators for far too long.”
