Two of prosecutions’ key witnesses on the case involving the alleged theft of more than $28, 000 from the Solomon Islands Government have refused to give evidence.
The court heard yesterday that both witnesses who are top public officers have decided not to give evidence.
As a result, the voir dire (trial within a trial) that was supposed to be conducted yesterday before Deputy Chief Magistrate Shepherd Lapo was further adjourned to tomorrow.
This is for prosecution to consider its position on how to go about this issue and informed the court on the next court date of its position.
These two witnesses are prosecutions key witnesses in the main trial which is set to commence when the voir dire trial ended.
They were also said to be the persons who initiated the case which resulted in the charging of the accused.
The accused, Enith Fairamoa who is a public officer is challenging her Record of Interview (ROI) with police.
She claims there is unfairness during the interview.
The accused is facing one count of larceny & embezzlement charge.
Police alleged she stole more than $28, 000 when she was working as a Pay Roll Officer in the Ministry of Finance and Treasury.
