RULING in relation to the voir dire (trial within a trial) conducted on the case of the public a officer accused of stealing more than $ 28, 000 from the national government will be handed down, July 1.
After the ruling, a date will then be fixed for the trial proper in this matter.
Two police officers have given their evidence in the voir dire last week.
They are the recording officer and witnessing officer who have involved in recording Enith Fairamoa’s interview with police.
Fairamo challenged her record of interview (ROI) with police, citing unfairness.
The prosecution had previously informed the court two of its key witnesses for the trial proper who are top public officers have decided not to give evidence.
Trial will however, be conducted despite the decision of these two witnesses not to give their evidence.
Ms Fairamoa was charged with one count of larceny & embezzlement.
Police alleged she stole more than $28, 000 when she was working as a Pay Roll Officer in the Ministry of Finance and Treasury.
Private lawyer Ben Etomea represents Fairamoa while Police Prosecutor John Palmer is prosecuting.
