MALAITA Provincial Police Commander Alfred Uiga will leave his current job tomorrow to take up a new role within the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Honiara.
He is expected to take up a new position as Assistant Commissioner of Police, Provincial Policing.
Mr Uiga confirmed his relocating to Honiara and said he looks forward to his new role in the RSIPF.
“I wish to thank the people and provincial government of Malaita for working closely with me during my time here,” Mr Uiga said.
“I appeal to the people and provincial government to continue that same working relationship with my successor,” he added.
Mr Uiga’s successor is yet to be announced.
Malaita Police operations manager David Wate has been handed the responsibility of managing the Auki police station while a replaced is being made.
Meanwhile, Mr Uiga has commended the South Seas Evangelical Church (SSEC) and organisers of the National Youth Convention held at Kilusakwalo village for their good behaviour.
He said so far the gathering at Kilusakwalo has been crime free, adding police will continue to patrol the area until the convention ends on Sunday.
The convention, which opened last Saturday, attracted youth groups across the country.
More than 3,000 young people are attending the event.
