ROYAL Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is working with the government to address their outstanding special duty allowances.
Commissioner of Police Frank Prendergast made the assurance yesterday following complaints raised by some police officers over delay of their allowances.
They said failure to address the issue will result in a boycott in the upcoming Independence Day parade this Thursday.
Mr Prendergast yesterday said they are working closely with the Permanent Secretary (PS) to settle the matter.
He also pointed out that any issue to do with the outstanding allowances, he should be consulted to discuss the matter.
Police Commissioner said the Independence Day event will continue as they are preparing well for the parade.
He added the issue of police allowance has been discussed with the PS for the Ministry of Police, National Security and Correctional Services (MPNSCS) and he had agreed to sort out the matter.
They just have to sort out some technical things before the allowance could be processed further for payment, he assured.
