Members of the public have commended the use of breathalyzers by police to crackdown on drink-driving.
This follows the first use of breathalyzer by police last weekend which resulted in 10 people being apprehended for taking alcohol over the legal limit.
“This is what we want. This device is really good and this must be used at all times in order to avoid curb drink-driving,” George Ramo said.
He said to ensure the strategy is effective and efficient; police must discharge their work with responsibility.
“They must stand their ground, neutral and be honest.”
Jonah Myles also shared the same sentiments.
“I commend police for the initiative, through the use of the breathalyzer device.
“A lot of road accidents have been caused by drink-driving, thus, I believe with the use of this device, it will reduce drink-driving and accidents.”
He added that police must get tough on those who try to break the traffic laws.
Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast said ten people were arrested after the device was put to its first use in the country.
“Those arrested will face the new traffic law.”
